USER EXPERIENCE SPECIALIST (INTERMEDIATE SYSTEMS ANALYST)

BCIT's Information Technology Services is looking for an energetic and motivated individual to design and coordinate rich content solutions for BCIT websites and applications. This regular, full-time position is responsible for developing and implementing content strategies and design specifications for BCIT enterprise web environments. You will optimize text, images and multimedia content for delivery to the web, with an eye towards accessibility and search engine optimization (SEO). You will work with other members of the Web Services team to develop rich media experiences and optimize web forms. In addition, you will provide input to the presentation layer and provide hands-on development support (HTML, CSS) as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
" Institute of Technology diploma, or bachelor's degree in science or business and a minimum of four years of current, relevant experience in an IT environment similar to BCIT, including two of the last four years in a similar position; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
" Must have a minimum of two years of demonstrated experience designing and developing web content.
" Must have demonstrated specific current knowledge and experience with:
o Site mapping, client interaction, web usability design, interaction design and information architecture;
o content creation, optimization and management strategies and techniques;
o visual design and screen layout;
o authoring and editing (X)HTML and CSS documents;
o Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
" Must have demonstrated specific current IT knowledge
" Proven commitment to providing and maintaining the highest level of customer services
" Effective oral and written communication skills
" Proven analytical and problem solving skills
" Strong organizational skills and ability to meet changing priorities and multi-task while meeting strict deadlines
" Must be a team player and work well with cross-departmental teams
" Ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge and techniques
" Commitment to regular ongoing professional development (including specific IT skills, professional associations, and current industry trends)

Information Technology Services requires a confident, resourceful and enthusiastic Senior Systems Analyst to assume the responsibilities of Solutions Architect (SA) for the department. As a consultant, leader and facilitator in this environment, the Solutions Architect is responsible for the development and deployment of Solutions Architecture methodology and processes, participates as a part of the Enterprise Architecture Strategic Practice, and is responsible for the development and application of Solutions Architecture methods and artefacts to align technical solutions to functional specifications.

As a member of the Information Technology Services Department, this regular, full-time position will provide leadership and guidance to other members of the department in the appropriate use and application of Solutions Architecture (SA) while working independently with minimal supervision.

Additional areas of responsibility for this position will include:
" Reviewing industry standards for SA to identify an approach for BCIT
" Developing and maintaining a BCIT specific Capability Maturity Model for SA
" Developing an implementation plan for introducing SA
" Supporting and developing the team of technical subject matter experts (SME's) that provide input to the Solutions Architecture
" Developing detailed standard technical solution profiles, in consultation with the technical specialists and architects throughout the rest of IT Services, based on current Enterprise Architecture (EA) components" Consulting with the technical subject matter experts, the SA will be responsible for assessing requirements against the Standard Technical Solutions Profiles to determine acceptable and approved candidate technologies from the current EA
" Participating in departmental processes and projects to ensure EA compliance while integrating SA processes

Your background should include evidence of:
" application implementation and support experience in an environment similar to that at BCIT
" exposure to the four primary areas of Enterprise Architecture, with evidence of an in-depth knowledge of at least one of those four primary areas
" training in formal Solutions Architecture methodologies
" experience with modelling techniques and methodologies
" project management techniques and methodology experience
" leading other IT professionals in the development and/or deployment of complex environments
" the ability to work with a wide range of technical and non-technical users

QUALIFICATIONS:
" Minimum six years current experience in an environment that is similar to that at BCIT, including four of the last six years in a similar position; and a Diploma in Computer Systems Technology or a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Business; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
" Excellent oral and written communication skills
" Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
